Transgender terms

It's funny, a patient was annoyed at the way someone was doing drag, he called it messy drag. It's funny there's intolerance with a community, though if I think about it it's business as usual. It's tragic.

I like the phrase gender non-conformity. It captures the experience of people who are not post-op or pre-op transgender.

I learned SRS is the preferred term, sexual reassignment surgery, not "sex change".

I love the phrase "shade" and "read". In my understanding, shade is when you criticize or send negativity to someone. A read is when people out you for being transgender. There are so many ways "read" can be used, even outside the transgender community. I like the argot of a community, the unique lingo.

I feel honored to be allowed in to observe what I've been allowed to see. Being a psychotherapist is a complete honor, we were talking about that at ICP last night. I can also be a frightening slog at times too.
