In the trial reports in the New York Times of Peter Braunstein, he has been diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder by a psychiatrist.
I find the whole legal hair splitting regarding responsibility a red herring. Does it really matter whether he goes to a jail or whether he goes to a locked down psychiatric prison, where people stay longer than they do when they are in prison? An opportunity for learning about mental illness has merely become a lurid following of the details of a crime, and it's often presented in an inflammatory way.
